The brief

Independent healthcare providers lack affordable, user-friendly telehealth solutions. Enterprise systems like Epic and Cerner are expensive and overbuilt for small practices. Patients struggle with clunky portals and scheduling systems. Virtual visits often have technical issues and poor UX. Providers need integration with EHR systems, billing, and prescription management. HIPAA compliance requirements make development complex and expensive.

The approach

Created a telehealth platform designed for independent practitioners and small clinic networks. Patients book appointments through an intuitive portal and join video visits with one click - no app download required. Designed extreme simplicity for patients with accessibility-first approach (screen readers, high contrast, large touch targets). Built provider interface optimized for efficiency with keyboard shortcuts and quick actions. Implemented HIPAA-compliant architecture with encrypted video and secure messaging. Integrated with major EHR systems for bi-directional sync and automated insurance verification.

The analysis moment

If a patient has to install anything, the visit is already lost.”

Why

The patients this platform serves are often older, on unfamiliar devices, and already anxious. Every step before the consultation is a place to drop out — and an app download is the biggest one.

Impact

One-click, browser-based visits with automated camera and microphone checks: 70% of patients complete their first video visit with no support contact.

Along the way

Hard parts, handled

Technical Barriers

Patients may struggle with camera/microphone permissions. Designed clear troubleshooting guidance and automated setup checks to ensure successful video connections.

Privacy & Trust

Healthcare is sensitive. Designed interface to communicate security through HIPAA badges and encryption messaging without creating patient anxiety.

Clinical Documentation

Enabled providers to chart during visits without losing patient connection through split-screen interfaces and keyboard-optimized workflows.

Build-ready outcome

Delivered a telehealth platform where 70% of patients successfully complete their first video visit without support. The MVP demonstrates browser-based HD video consultations, integrated e-prescribing, EHR integration, secure messaging, and practice analytics.
